aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

S E R A P H I N A

“You did a wonderful job my love. But now that they are out… You have no reason not to marry me now.”

Vladimir’s soft jest echoed through her mind and that night Sera dreamed of weddings. She couldn’t recall attending any during her short life in Summer Eclipse but she had heard all about them from her mother, both about hers and weddings in general. There had even been times when the two had imaging Sera’s future wedding, just for fun. At least it had been to Sera; her mother likely took it more seriously than she did as the betrothal had already been planned at that time. When the princess had pictured her wedding, she’d never been able to put a face on her suitor, the dream always cutting out that detail or she would forget it when she woke up. Now, it was Vlad’s visage that filled her dream. The day was bright and warm, full of light and happiness. Laughter arose from nearby and Seraphina could see their older children playing together. Familiar faces appeared as well. She could see Kal and Sebring and Castiel. This dream seemed to make everything as it could have been, then, before the former king and queen had left and Cas had vanished. If they suddenly came back… well Seraphina didn’t think Vladimir would really wish to see them. He’d been betrayed when they’d left, a deep wound on his heart that had scabbed over, but one that even Sera couldn’t heal. Here, in this ideal dreamworld, though, they were happy together, smiling and chattering like nothing had happened.

And Seraphina had not missed out on such an unlikely reunification either. She could feel someone brush against her side and her emeralds widened as she turned her head in surprise at the familiar, but vague scent. Dante. The sister Sera had not seen in so long, who had broken her promise to return and rather abandoned her. However conflicted real Seraphina would have been to see her sister, dream Sera was happy. For her, Dante had never left, but had come back to visit every so often while she ran her own pack elsewhere in Blossom. How unfair that life had taken this potential future from Sera and Vlad. At least it had left them with each other. Alone, perhaps they would have been two miserable, broken beings, but together they were happy. And really that was all the princess cared about. Long lost family was best left in dreams, just like futures that could have been.

Heavy eyelids struggled open, not even needing to blink against sunlight for there was none. The sky had only just begun to lighten, the sun hidden behind trees and mountains. Confusion was the first thing in Sera. She did not recognize where she was, nor why she was here, and had no clue why she was even awake at such an ungodly hour when clearly she didn’t want to be. Panic swelled in her chest for a moment and she frantically look around, now much more awake. It was quickly calmed at the sight of her mate, face mere inches away. He had curled around her, like usual. And the reason they were not in their regular den then was…

A soft kick at her stomach sent Sera’s eyes to her belly instantly and her gaze softened immediately, the events of last night washing over her once more. She shifted her tail away from the pups bodies so she could look over them again. All alive, thankfully, and all seemingly healthy. Gently Sera nuzzled each one, her tongue ghosting over their tiny frames. Her heart swelled as she watched them wriggle in contentment. But if none were whining and upset, then why was she awake? Her gaze moved to the other side of the lake, where the other three children were still sleeping and a restless need coursed through her. She was separated from her babies and her maternal instinct was not handling it well. They’d never not woken up with her there and even though they were becoming more independent by the day that would terrify them. And it wasn’t just that she wasn’t there; Vlad wasn’t either. That, coupled with the fact that this was not their den and it held no sense of security, made Sera sure that they had to return as soon as possible.

Softly, she pressed her nose against Vlad’s neck and then his cheek. “Wake up, my love. We must return to our den. But first I think we have four little ones who need some names.” A sudden squirming brought the first whimpers from the pups and Sera watched as they slowly awoke from their dreams in search of food. She nosed them gently, assuring each one was nursing and sighed. They would have to feed before they could be moved, that would hopefully send them back to sleep. Their crying would surely wake the other 3 up and Sera wanted to avoid that as best we could. A soft laugh left her and she looked back to Vladimir. “I suppose we have some time then. We may as well plan the wedding a bit more than, if you’re up for it.”
