My lips pressed together and pulled apart a few times as I worked the sleep from my mouth, my tongue pressing back and forth a couple of times before lapping out across the front of my lips. I blinked, looking back over at the kid as he exclaimed that it wasn't fair because I was bigger. One side of my maw quirked up in a grin as he plopped down into a sitting position beside my hindquarters with a frown. For being daring enough to pounce on the tail of his alpha, he didn't seem very tough. Ah but I had to indulge him, that forlorn look tugging at my heart strings. So I pushed up into a sitting position, reaching over the cuffing him lightly with a paw on top of his head. "A small wolf can be just as tough as a big wolf - you just need some practice." I grinned at him as the frown began to vanish from his face and his tail began to beat happily against the rock.
A laugh loosed from my lips as the little caramel hued yearling demanded that I show him how to plant his feet. "Well hey, first of all, why don't you tell me your name, kiddo? I'm Nymeria." I remained in a sitting position, looking down at the pup who had launched back onto his paws. Well, he certainly didn't stay down for long, and that was a good sign. I wasn't sure if he'd come here today to play or to learn, but I'd do my best to teach him something if I could. But before anything else, I waited for him to introduce himself, so I knew who exactly I was dealing with. From his size and coloration my best bet was he was related to Tyrion, and my head cocked to the side. He'd certainly made himself at home rather quickly if he already had a yearling kid in the pack. A small grin pulled at my lips at the thought, glad for it.
Once I'd learned his name, I popped my brows and said simply, "Watch and learn," before launching seemingly from my sitting position into a leap down and off the rock. There was a stray stick laying in the clearing, blown down from a nearby tree, and I landed squarely on top of it. When I hit the ground, my back paws were spread slightly apart, giving me a firm base, while my front paws held the stick down. But they weren't together either, spread slightly towards the ends of the stick. I glanced over my shoulder at Icarus. "See how my stance is box shaped? It'll give me stability if, say, another wolf came flying into me from above." With a wink, I turned back forward, maintaining the posture of my demonstration, and waiting for the boy to follow my hint....or not.
