Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

Think thunder clouds gathering in the horizon, ranging in color from pale grey to nearly black, and you’d have a good idea of what Huxley looked like. Muzzle still ebony like the coat of his youth, darker grey dapples painting his lighter, ashen pelt and a mane of silk colored like pepper. For most of his colthood he had wondered why he looked so different from both his dam and sire, though as he grew and his color faded he began to see the resemblance. Much like his father he boasted long legs, perfect for an equine of his breeding. From his mother he inherited lovely chocolate eyes and a fondness for the water. In his mind, he was perfect. After all, who could find fault with his handsome face? His mind was a completely different matter of course. “Are you, are you, coming to the tree? Where they strung up a man they say murdered three....” He hummed as he trotted across the snow-blanketed plains, optics scanning for scarce trees and bushes for hiding equines.

Nearing what appeared the be the end of the glorious fields, the slate stallion paused near the edge of a marshland. Mud, some ice slicked, though it seemed almost warmer within the thicket of trees and swamp. An almost overpowering smell of stags, though he thought he caught the faintest whiff of female. It was what any bachelor herd might stink of, and though Huxley didn’t have an affinity for friendships, especially with other males, he also had nowhere else to go. Leading a herd of his own didn’t appeal to him, too much work for so little return, and while he could venture to the other terrains, he had heard rumors. Rumors of mares leading herds all their own, and the idea was repulsive. Why couldn’t they accept their differences and move on? They didn’t need to be large and in charge. Women had their own set of strengths, leading was not generally one of them. Snorting, the brute shook his head, dislodging whatever snow had managed to cling to his crown.

A few steps into the Lagoon and his black hooves were already filthy. That would take some getting used to. The question is who’s in charge in a place like this? He thought to himself as he sniffed at a few low hanging branches. The snapping of twigs sent the large titan into the air - perhaps a curse of his heritage, high nerves. Slapping his ears against his skull and arching his powerful boa Huxley growled at whoever had found him, “who’s there?.”
