Ah, she heard him long before she actually turned to see him - he had informed her, after all, of his intention to come and she had much more important things to do at that point. He was welcome, of course, but that didn't mean she'd be changing her priorities immediately. At least, she had to admit, he isn't with Itchy Ears. That had been the first thing Ruby had checked for when her eyes finally did move towards the strange new boy. And, of course, whether he looked good enough to be there alone with her.
When he reached her, his energy was palpible. He was excited - she couldn't blame him. She had found something interesting, after all. Who wouldn't be glad about that? Still, she did her best to seem modest - a grin, a small nod of greeting, even a small wave of her tail as she straightened up and met his eyes. "Ruby," she introduced herself oh so modestly! But as for discovery? "Can't you tell? There's something beneath here. It smells...old. Meaty." The word meaty made her grin, a hint of her canines poking out from behind the dark line of her lip. The word alone sounded so tasty, right? It was hard to not admit she wanted to find it for her mother too...
She stepped aside though her eyes narrowed in slight suspicion as she offered him the chance to sniff the area she had been paying attention to. As soon as he took the chance, she did her best to move into position again. She didn't want him getting all the credit, after all. "You look...strong," her eyes moved up and down him quickly before they settled back on the sand beneath them. "Why don't you help me dig it up, hm?"
