GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
First Breath After A Coma

I would honestly love you now,
But I would lovingly let you down.

Two full seasons had passed and the Prairie looked nothing like it did when his mother died. The sky was cloudless and blue. What remained of the dead reeds from winter were trampled brown into the moist ground. New, vibrant green chutes jutted up from the earth in their place. Brienne's remains no longer lingered in the coastal dunes. But the specific dune in which he last saw his mother's body still haunted him to this day.

With spring came the round, rich bellies of some of the new mares Shamwari had collected over the past months. Aside from Rosheen, whose milk had kept Jabari's brother alive through the worst of winter, the painted stallion kept mostly to himself. He had no interest in getting to know his father's newest cohort of women. They would come and go just like the others, Jabari thought bitterly. Despite this, the young stallion was happy to see the first signs of a new season. Spring meant they had survived the worst of the year. It gave him hope that his life would have new meaning soon. It filled him with dreams he had for the Prairie, that perhaps didn't always align with his father's.

On this particular day, the stallion ambled lazily near the wooded border of the Forest, scavenging aimlessly on fresh weeds and clover. His pink nostrils flared as he breathed in the damp scents of the dirt and the leaf litter.
