Anyone else fed up with all these extended roles for optoms and nurses?
Why should I train them to do my job? If they want a doctor's job why don't they go and do the science A levels required, enter medical school, do all the exams, and also do all the postgrad exams as well as a masters and doctorate ? Instead I am spending my time training them, for a clinic to be booked alongside them, and having to see all their patients who are outside protocol as well as my own?
Why is the College promoting this farce of common competency framework?
Do they not know it takes years of knowledge and experience to make clinical decisions and patient care is being compromised by this farce? It is also extremely inefficient as nurses and optoms take much much longer to actually see patients and bring everything back for review because they simply have not got the same knowledge base.
