Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

- Zelda -

Zelda hated Blackthrone for what he had done to them, in the way he had done it to them. It was underhanded and a cowardly way to take a pack over. One that she hoped wouldn’t be repeated anytime soon. Things across the lands seemed to had settled though for the time being, though that sadly meant also that Blackthorne had set himself in like a tick on the flesh, draining away from its host that was Moladion. It would fester for some time, even if he was plucked she decided, but she could do little against him as well. Thus far he had not moved in a way that would justify bringing down the forest guardians against him to protect Moladion. Likewise she had worries about Asteraia, but with Jinx there at least she knew she would always have someone reasonable to talk to. The girl was of the Monster’s blood, but even the monster set reasonable terms to peace. If the new Queen of Asteria was attempting to do something similar to what was done in the past, it would mean there was hope for peace to fall across Moladion yet.

Time would tell.

Right now though Zelda was only seeing a child with a broken youth standing before her. Witnessing the ruin in progress. Zelda could only picture the most confident and playful children she had seen when she had visited Pine during her rule. The girls running and screeching as they were having a good time in the moors to the rather timid, forlorn child she was now seeing before her. Blackthorne’s rule was a twisted one. Zelda also was not sure how he had garnered followers. What he had promised? What was he giving them? At some point she thought she wanted to meet one of them, figure it out, but how reasonable would wolves following him be?

Trying to find polite conversation with the girl wasn’t helping a frown crossed Zelda’s maw at her words about how she missed her birth home. Missed Iromar. ”I can understand. I would feel the same if Taviora ever was to be taken. Though, as long as I draw breath that will never be the case. For now, you are safe here and someday I believe Blackthorne will fall.” For in time Zelda was certain he would, but how long she couldn’t say. Though she could tell the girl didn’t want to linger on the topic, instead pushing forward asking Zelda to show her around the forest.

”Of course! I have a secret spot I had found with my friend, it is a very unique location.” Zelda said smiling warmly. It wasn’t too far from here, though at the same time it made her miss Alexander. She hadn’t seen him in so long and hoped he was well with his brothers. Wherever the winds had taken them this time. ”This way.” Zelda chirped giving a little bob of her head before taking off at a slow trot so the girl could keep pace.

As promised it wasn’t far or long of a walk, soon the pit, which was hidden under snow just as she and Alexander had found it before came into site. The large fragment of rock also nearby as its signpost. With a jump like a fox on the sound of a vole the auburn fem went up in the air crashing onto the snow at the rocks base and causing it to cave in. The hole was just as they had found it. Large enough for a big wolf to squeeze in, though perhaps not comfortably, easy to overlook. She dug the snow away a bit more before motioning for the girl to take a look. She waited for her to lead the way in, slipping in after her and sliding slightly on the rocky surface within.

It was just as she remembered, the black reflective stone wall. It was pitch black within but with the bit of light she let in it was enough to tell it wasn’t an ordinary location. It wasn’t huge, but large enough to keep a group of adult wolves comfortably.

”It’s called obsidian, I think, the rock is. My friend theorized it was made from the impact of the Meteor all those years ago.” She wasn’t sure if this was quite the ‘adventure’ or things she wanted to see, but it could be one step of many today. After all there were other places to go and see in the forest as well.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
