GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
This is no ordinary love

Vita Nova watches solemnly as the rest of the herd begins to fill in. In an attempt to ignore her brother's intense gaze, she fidgets around her palomino daughter, pressing her soft gray nose into the filly's bed of yellow mane, and breathing deeply. Nova parks out her hind legs in an attempt to encourage Tavas to feed, to do anything, to show any signs of need in which Nova could divert her energy and attention to the routine care of her child, but Tavas wasn't playing along. Instead, the young, bright-eyed filly is more interested in Primrose and Verdi, among the other foals of the Prairie. She bounces in place and whinnies gleefully to Prim, tossing her head wildly. When Shamwari calls the attention of the group, Tavas merely snorts and flicks her tuft of a tail in annoyance.

Nova breathes a heavy sigh as she turns her attention to Shamwari. She eyes Jabari too, and he tries to settle her anxiety with stoic, but kind glances of reassurance. Clearly he knew something was wrong, even though Vita Nova had yet to admit to anything out loud. Shamwari's words are strong and pointed, but a silence hangs over the herd once he's finished speaking. Nova couldn't bring herself to look at Petal. She felt so full of shame and could feel the smaller mare's eyes piercing into her. Even though she knew there was no way that Petal could have known she'd made that trip to Tinuvel to see Warsaw after their initial encounter. Nevertheless, she knew Petal was loyal to Shamwari, and Vita Nova would never ask her to lie.

She snorted once and swallowed hard before parting her whiskered lips to respond, "I-I-I don't know what he was doing here." She said quickly, with the short stomp of a front hoof. "Petal and I came across him months ago... in the Crossing. We talked for some time, but it became clear quickly that he was..." She struggled to find her words. Dangerous? Cunning? Handsome? Mysterious? It was all so complicated. The same attributes that made her fear him also made her lust after him. "Trouble."

Her pale blue eyes flitted to Petal now, but only briefly, before falling back to the ground beneath her feet. "He showed no signs that he intended to follow us home one day. We even lied to him about where we lived."
