Somewhere Over the Rainbow

I do not wish to believe that such a thing could have truly happened… I would have never wished the deaths… of any of those you have ever cared for.

Zawyne’s twin towers flattened against her skull and she whimpered – it was a nice sentiment, a nice idea, that simply wishing away foul deeds could change the past and write a future anew. But alas such a power was impossible, and Zawyne was no longer naïve enough to believe that the past could ever be altered. Events that a young wolf should never experience had altered her, had threatened to taint her bright star of light, yet she had persevered. Despite everything that had happened, she would still be the fiery princess of a destroyed people – and hoped that she and her sister Los could eventually lead them to a brighter place, perhaps even rebuild themselves, although that would take generations upon generations… The femme shook her head and opened her maw to speak, for as much as she wanted to blame Noctis for the deaths of her friends during his absence, she knew that she had no right to place the weight of that burden upon him.

Despite you wishing only the best for them, that does not change anything. They died nonetheless and shall never again walk among us. We spend time each day mourning our loss of them and hoping that none of the rest of us shall meet the same fate.

Zaffy fell silent, although her previous words had been spoken so quietly that there hardly was a difference between in the noise capacity. And she waited, patiently, for an answer to her questions – why had he left? Where had he been? But no answers were to be provided. Instead, he stood up straight, no longer groveling before her, and looked liked a wolf born anew. Zawyne’s audettes flickered to the side, uncertain as to what she was supposed to do without any new information, and with each passing second assumed that she would get something, anything. But no – there was nothing.

The sunrise sorbet fae sighed but then remembered her own words – she had suggested that they start anew, in order to see if a new friendship could be kindled even with the baggage that existed between them and in each of their pasts. It was so much easier to make new friends as a pup – pups always believed the best of everything and was more willing to forget trespasses and not take things as personally. But she was not a pup any more, and found that she had grown to be more like her older sister – she now had a sense of distrust, a fear of the unknown. Though her words had been bold, offering a blank slate, could she really do that? Could she forget his betrayal by abandonment? No… but the real questions was not if she could forget it, but rather could she forgive it and move past it? The lass took a deep breath and exhaled slowly before word vomiting a bunch of random facts about herself.

Perhaps this is too literal of a following of my own phrasing, but is as good of a start as any, and perhaps will break these monotonous moments of awkwardness between us. Hello – my name is Zawyne. I have one sister, and my parents are no longer a part of this world. I can be stubborn and emotional, and I am very protective of my friends and my family. I hate fighting and battles and war, for I feel the emotions of those involved, feel the hatred and the anger and fear, and it makes me feel like I’m drowning. What is your name?
