Ain't life just awful strange

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

Wasp had really no idea or context to understand how difficult it was to navigate the sea, especially at this time of year. All she knew was she had done it before, but alongside her mother and a draft-breed friend, and when the temperatures were much more mild. What's the difference? she thinks brazenly now. She could do it again, she mused. But Ruger's warning was strict and foreboding. She would be lying if she said her confidence wasn't shaken a bit by his eerie reply. Wasp was too enthralled by his words to notice that he'd inched closer to her, out of the shallow waters and near the bank. A slender dark ear flicked forward and back as she thought about the wild of Tinuvel. "Cats?" She questioned, apprehension in her voice, but also curiosity.

She listened eagerly to his plans. He seemed well traveled, but there was no way for Wasp to know for sure. He spoke with a kind of confidence that made her believe him, though. "What's Luthien?" She asks with interest, taking a few small strides closer to him. Wasp knew that the meadow was nearby, but had no sense of direction on how to get there from here, and if she would know her way back to the Peak. She weighs this for a moment longer, her tuft of a tail spinning wildly over her rump.

Ruger begins to dismiss her with his clever and charming goodbye, but Wasp isn't ready for him to depart yet. He's the most interesting fellow she'd met on her first excursion outside of the Peak, after all. There was more to learn from him, she concludes. "Wait!" She calls out, bounding forward in a bouncy trot, making a wide lap around him. "Can I come with you? To the meadow?" She asks, her amber eyes wide and full of hope. She even flashes him her most pout-like smile, for added effect. "I've never been to the meadow."
