GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
Live through this lie

Was I left behind?
Tell me, tell me I survived.

I easily fall in line with my friend's stride, as we lazily scale one golden hill after another. My wide brown eyes search the land casually, spying the small specks of mares and foals in the distance, grazing comfortably in the gentle slope of a far off valley. There was something about this place, the landscape and the mood around it, that seemed to foster this community of contentment. For that, I feel grateful. It had been some time since my family found its equilibrium after Brienne's death. We all struggled individually, I think. Our journeys through the grief were different. But it seems the tides had turned, and at least now we were healing.

I eye the painted stallion as he speaks, or seemingly struggles to. This was a side of Ruger I admit I have not seen before, and I raise my heavy head high over my withers as I prepare for what he has to say. I halt too, standing quite still as Ruger hesitates to share. My brown tail flicks idly over my haunches with anticipation. A ghost. It was an accurate description of my nomadic friend. We only saw him when he wanted us to see him. He came in with the sea breeze and left with it. It was always a joy when Ruger made his way through the Prairie, but where he went after he stayed here, I do not know. He never smelled of the Lagoon anymore these days -- it seemed that that chapter in his life had closed, much like mine. But every time I saw the painted solider, I'm reminded of the life we led when we were there. My, how times have changed.

When Ruger finally does speak, I am relieved. "Here I was thinking you were going to tell me something seriously dire." I say sarcastically with a wiry grin across my whiskered lips. I can tell this was hard for him, to open up in such a way. To ask for help. I would have struggled with it too. "You know you are always welcome here. And whether you knew it or not, you've been a part of this family for a long time, Ruger." I say reassuredly. "Honestly, your timing couldn't be better." My thoughts flick to the Praire's most recent foes -- Cullen, the new Lagoon boss comes to mind first. Then Warsaw, that large grey brute from the Inlet. We could certainly use another set of eyes, and Ruger's expertise around here. "My son is getting older. Soon enough he'll want to venture out on his own, like we did those years ago." I say breathing a heavy sigh now, the sides of my barrel rising and falling in one collective huff. Then I kick myself into gear again, continuing our ambling stroll. "It will be good to have you here, to help protect the herd."
