UPDATE: Character Caps, the Vault, and the Slumber
IP: 74.199.21.5

Blossom Forest has recently introduced a character cap to the site - limiting players to having a maximum of 10 character slots to start with; extraneous non-active characters will be taken off the Members Page to reflect wolves that players are still actively writing. This does NOT mean that we are forcing players to delete or kill off their characters in order to stay within the character limit! Any hiatused or inactive character who needs a break can instead reside in the new Character Vault (please see the Retired Boards page on the Chatter section for a fuller explanation!)

The character cap will not start being enforced until October 15th (and there won't be serious consequences until closer to December). If players would like more room for active characters, they may purchase up to 2 character slots per point collection period. Activity guidelines to qualify for slot purchase will be posted in the Rules and also on the Points page soon (in fact, everything about the character cap will soon be on the Rules page!)

As of now, the absolute maximum of non-vaulted characters that any player may have is 16 wolves. There is no limit to how many characters you may place in the Vault, but those characters will be "soft deleted" after a real-life year. Soft deletion differs from deletion in that those "expired" characters may later be rejoined.

Pups born in-character are "freebies" in that they do not take up a slot until they age to teens no more than one real-life year after birth!

Now I will explain the mechanics of The Slumber. This event will begin on October 1st and run until December 1st as a way to give players an in-character explanation for any inactivity of their wolves. The Slumber may be used to explain the absence of characters who have been Vaulted (but it doesn't have to be). During The Slumber, wolves will inexplicably fall into a deep magically induced sleep from which they cannot be woken; they may either hear the call of The Slumber and succumb of their own free will, or be dragged into sleep. Once the wolf has nodded off, tangles of thick impenetrable vines covered in wicked thorns will grow over their vulnerable bodies, protecting them from danger. Vampires may NOT go to sleep without consequences, as they still must feed every season. Wolves may enter The Slumber from any board at any time.

As always, questions/comments/concerns are welcome. :)
