The problem is that cataract surgery will soon be removed from the 18-week target. The waiting lists will then inevitably grow. With scarce resources, the government has to focus on urgent and life-threatening conditions A+E, Cancer, Stroke, MI.
The time is fast approaching when as a nation we will have to decide what our priorities are. In Ophthalmology we need high quality and timely care for irreversible and sight threatening diseases> 6/9 /6/12cataracts with a bit of glare cannot be at the top of the agenda.
