live life to the fullest

He seemed genuinely interested in what she had to say so she felt herself relaxing a little. She had such little interaction experience with stallions that she was still on edge but his calm demeanor was helping to soothe her. She was sure it looked weird that she was on her own as a two year old. Most mares she knew waited till their fourth or fifth year, when they felt more matured and experienced in the ways of life before they ventured away from the herd if that's what they wanted to do but she was so restless in her life. Now she couldn't help but think she should have reconsidered. He let out a long sigh and her ears pricked forward at the sound before continuing their back and forth motions of uncertainty. Her tail swished at her flanks, but she held her ground. There was still no reason to fear, at least not yet. When she told him that it was her first time here, he said welcome and gave her a wide smile meant to comfort her. It did help, her own lips tugging into a return smile automatically as her features softened and she dipped her head. "Thank you."

He was so patient with her that she started to feel the wariness leaving her body. He seemed to take everything in stride, telling her she would come to learn the currents and when it was safest to cross. He did admit that there was risk. She eyed the water once more. She was fascinated by its mystery but she was still deathly afraid of the dark unknowns beneath the surface. What if there were monsters under there that ate horses? What if they nibbled at her legs the minute she stepped in? He was okay after swimming but what if he just got lucky? She hadn't been around such big bodies of water back home so it was all foreign to her. She was used to lakes and ponds, mostly, not oceans. Even so, she nodded in acknowledgement. "Does the reward outweigh the risks?" She lifted a brow in question as she tilted her head a little, ears pricked for his answer. What was on the other side? Were there safe places or more danger?

She followed his gaze as he looked toward the coast. At his sudden question about danger, she scowled thoughtfully before shrugging. "Yeah I guess so. Maybe I was just sheltered from it all for too long." She said the last part with a sadness in her tone. Oh, how she wished for that same sheltered feeling now. To just run back into the embrace of her mother and father and never think of the sleepless nights again. But she'd come too far. She knew she could never go back. She would never see her parents again. It stung and her heart felt constricted. The stallion wasn't making her feel any better. He spoke of predators and storms then compared them to the sea. She couldn't help the smirk tugging at her lips as she eyed him with a saucy twinkle in her eyes. "You sure know how to comfort a girl." Maybe he was helping her relax more than even she thought. She'd been too careful to show her spirit before but she felt her muscles easing up some the longer she was around the stallion. Maybe it wasn't so bad here, after all.

She wasn't happy that she had admit how lost she was, but she wasn't about to lie to the stallion. He remained calm even then, saying it was ok and asked how she ended up here. She scowled thoughtfully again before shaking her head. "To tell the truth, I don't know. I know I didn't swim so maybe we live more inland on the island or something and I just never knew it. I know I've never seen the ocean up close, not till I got here. I've only seen ponds and lakes. I've seen only forests and meadows up till now."
