Put the feeders out the other day and within minutes birds came out of hiding.
First chickadees, then doves, juncos, bluejays, woodpeckers,sparrow, even the elusive cardinal. Then a big dark shadow appeared overtop and they all disappeared - a hawk checking things out.
The next day a shrike dropped by and sat in a nearby tree taking a look. The birds knew it came in and disappeared again.
Today they are all back digging thru the snow covered feeders. Such a delight to watch. Replies: There have been no replies.
