The Denver City Council recently approved a proposition for setting up a supervised drug injection site in Denver.
This would be the only such site in the U.S.
The below-linked commentary in today's Denver Post discusses this issue.
I personally think that this is a terrible idea--allowing drug users to bring their illegal drugs into a site supervised by medical personnel, so as to allow them to inject these drugs in a safe/sanitary fashion!
Fortunately, the state legislature has to approve this proposition, and I don't think they will.
