Hi Bonnie; Only Hoary and Red Bats really migrate. Others move a little south and find caves in southern Ontario or New York to spend the winter. Species like Little Brown Bats and Big Brown Bats spend to winter in sheltered areas like caves, shed, or house attics. They would not survive in an unheated garage but need an area which will stay around zero degrees and would not make it at minus 30 degrees.
