STUCK IN YOUR WONDERLAND
She was beyond tiny.
That was the only thought that puddled in the cream brute’s otherwise calm mind. He had begun to get a small grasp of what this world was about, of what happened before his arrival, of it’s politics and such. It was all fascinating and had set his mind whirring since he left the vast tundras. Perhaps he’d fall into line behind someone as his upbringing demanded of him. Or, perhaps, just perhaps, he’d take a different approach.
falling behind someone means they will need to trust you. you’re pathetic. you’re hardly trustworthy enough to guard a dead mouse.
It had been that voice’s constant nagging that had brought his mind to still. Ramos had cleaned off his well groomed coat too many times to count now, each lick an effort to soothe his upset spirit. At least he looked the best he had in his short time in this still foreign land. At least he felt more like himself.
However, he was quite caught off guard by the thin black wolf entering into the mouth of one of the many caves that yawned into the open sky above them. The wind was the only reason he didn’t second guess his immediate assumption and drop into a crouch to stalk this creature. She was obviously a wolf, and she seemed to be a loner at that. Ramos let out a huff through his own black nostrils, the ochre just above it wrinkling as he thought. He had been hoping to find another long-time resident of this place with some good info as to the past and present, but this would be okay.
If anything, they might get along and share a den for the night. Just the thought of sleeping next to another body felt too good to pass up and so long, near-white limbs carried him away from his perch on an elevated hill to the entrance where he had last seen the white flecked girl disappear. Cautiously, he lowered his pale head to inhale deeply, assuring himself that she was the only one in this particular part of the cave system. Here he let out another, louder huff that he would hope would carry down to her however fair she had gone.
"Don’t go getting yourself lost in there, it’s a little too cold out for that." Ramos spoke dryly but his deep rumbling voice was not completely devoid of humor. He hoped she wouldn’t take his words wrong and think he was chiding her, she seemed young enough that adults may still be doing that to her.
