Possible Great Black-backed x Herring Gull Hybrid -- Barrie Waterfront

Hi All,

I just came back from the Barrie waterfront. There was one gull that I found particularily interesting by the Spirit Catcher.

It was a large, dark mantled gull, a shade lighter than the other great-black backs around. Just quickly combing through the photos now, there are a couple of interesting features...
1) Does not appear to have a red eye-ring... it looks fairly yellow.
2) It's legs are two different shades. The healthy leg is pink, the footless leg looks rather yellow... probably related to being footless.

This bird appears much too large for a lesser black-backed gull.

Has anyone else observed this Gull?

I don't currently have the means to load my RAW images, but am willing to send the photos to anyone who may be interested.

Gull numbers appear more abundant than during the CBC 11 days ago... There were likely 15-20 Glaucous, and 5+ Icelands around the marina, with many constantly flying in.

Happy Holidays and Good Birding!
