Wren had not returned to Diveen. She had been freed of her prison and the curse that haunted her was gone. And yet, she could go back to the place she had once called home. All the while she had been a captive of that tyrant, no one had come for her. They had abandoned! Emotions flared inside her, a volatile mixture of rage, sadness, and confusion bubbled uncontrollably in her mind. No, she knew she could not go back. At least, not yet. There were things the speckled princess had to figure out for herself. Her paws carried her away from the swamps, as far away as they could manage.
The dark wolfess had seen little of Moladion in her youth and so she had no idea where she was, but that didn't seem to matter much. As long as it wasn't wet, miserable, and stinky, she'd be fine. Instead, this place seemed the exact opposite. It was dry to the point that the land had cracked in numerous places. There weren't many trees, leaving the area open and the wolfess feeling exposed. A small smile spread across Wren's face as she walked along the crags. Her nails clacked rhythmically along the surface as she slowly explored the area. While it felt a little lonely, for once in her life, she didn't see that as a bad thing. How long had she been under the constant eye of another wolf? She was well and truly alone now and it felt peaceful.
A sound reached her ears, causing them to twitch as she tried to pinpoint where it was coming from. Heading north, she discovered a sight that made her gasp. The earth had opened up, allowing a small stream of water to fall into a shimmering pool below. It had been the sound of the waterfall that had drawn her to this place. A rainbow glowed where the water met, giving the area a sense of fantasy. Wren giggled, a sound she had not made in many moons. Carefully, the dark wolf made her way down to the pool, enjoying the spray as it lightly coated her pelt with drops of water. With a gentle sigh, she lay along the rim of the pool, allowing her front paws to touch the surface of the cool liquid. As the sun moved overhead, she felt herself dozing off and this time, she wasn't afraid of what would happen when she opened her eyes again.
