All of this mess in workforce has been deliberately planned for many years by a bunch of old mafia to keep number of trainees always far below demand. J Ferris et al had always played it well to minimise entry into the system at ST3 mainly by putting high the criteria of recruiting (such asking questions from the FRCOphth OSCES and VIVAs to a to-be ST3 doctor!) The idea of centralising the whole recruitment few years ago had also been pushed hard for by the same bunch who is now running this business of selling gel eyes to the college. I won't blame them as Paeds Ophthalmology pays rubbish in private! Replies:
