Budget Deficit Hits $544 Billion

The below-linked article, re-printed in today's Denver Post, indicates that for the first five months of the current fiscal year, the budget deficit has reached $544 billion--39% higher than at this same point last year.
The article goes on to say that the large increase in the deficit is due to a 1% decline in government revenues (due to the new tax bill) and a 9% increase in government spending.
