I wonder how many angels can dance on the head of a pin
Yes, characterized by Wiki as "a metaphor for wasting time debating topics of no practical value, or questions whose answers hold no intellectual consequence"
Well, I certainly don't want to beat this to death, so this will be the last response (other than to Perry) on this subject.
But by my standards, the 2 points I made are far from angels.
1 - The need for benchmarks.
Just as mothers are biased towards their kids, so are inventors towards their creations. The Rx for that is to devise objective non-biased tests. You obviously have a very high regard for your methods, but how would they have done versus the Chalkies in some of your contests? You are in a unique position to find out.
In the chess world, there are many bright people who have worked hard to continually improve their computer chess programs - their babies. The chess equivalent of ratings + sim methods in jai-alai. Those chess programs are 'benchmarked' every year in massive head to head tournaments.
2 - The failure point of the Skiena system wrt 'inter-zonal' head-to-head match-ups.
I seriously doubt that problem has been noted before. You have to concede that 'student's t' basically just translated the Skiena model into another programming language, warts and all. So imagine if Benny announced, "Hey folks, the other players are so fed up with Erik hogging all the WPS bonuses, that we have have decided, effective May 1, 2019, to to return to handicapped post positions!"
Anyone using a Skiena-based system night find my insight to be of great interest.
