PERSEPHONE

Persephone’s ears flicked backwards momentarily at Warsaw’s playful words. She returned his grin with a mildly irritated eye roll, and did not return his extended muzzle, although neither did she shy away. She stood there, watching him, dark eyes narrowed slightly.

He was a difficult character to figure out, and had been since the day she had met him. He had been at once polite and pleasant enough, yet at the same time repulsive and dangerous in his thoughts and actions. He had taken her prisoner, yet left her unharmed. She was no closer to figuring out what exactly he wanted, what exactly he got out of this foolish dance they partook in.

Persephone hated a puzzle she couldn’t solve.

“Not so bad,” she replied coolly. “My little vacation with you helped prepare me.”

A tiny grin tugged at the corner of Persephone’s lips then, just slightly. She felt the tension dissipate from her body, just by a fraction. If he were here to cause real, serious trouble, she was sure he wouldn’t be standing around making jokes first.

“But I don’t think you came to ask me how I’ve been.” She titled her head, curious. “What brings me the pleasure?”
