Would the water never end? She felt like she had been swimming forever. Her legs continued churning but she would need to rest soon. Why didn't she decide to do this first thing this morning instead of waiting till late afternoon? At this point, she might still be swimming when the sun sets. She snorted at the very thought. It was one thing to swim during the day when she could see her own legs (well, mostly) under the water. It was a whole other thing to do it at night when the water was as pitch black as the rest of the world. Luckily she soon made out a hump of land ahead. Her eyes widened in surprise and then relief as she made her way in that direction. Finally soft sand was under her hooves and she slowly made her way up onto the banks, shaking the water from her coat the first chance she got. Taking a look around, she snorted, finding that she could smell other horses. A shiver ran down her spine at the thought of running into others so soon after escaping her nightmare. Would she find others just like him? Her ears pinned back at the very thought. No, she had to keep hope. Maybe this time would be different. She made her way further onto the island, following the sound of running water without really noticing her hooves were going in any certain direction. It was only when she walked into a little clearing and a waterfall ran down the edge of a small cliff before her did she really think about where she'd been headed this whole time. She stopped to take in the beauty of the scene first, ears swiveling alertly in case she wasn't alone. Only when she was satisfied that she was, did she venture closer to the pool of water at the bottom. Lowering her head, she began to drink, taking in big gulps of water.
