the strange way of the world

The stallion came with anger in his belly, but he assumed that was because of Warsaw's visit weeks ago. His father had a knack for rubbing others the wrong way no matter their gender, but he was told this stallion couldn't be shown any weakness. Requiem and his father shared different personalities, but his loyalty for his sire was strong enough to provoke a personality change in certain circumstances. This was his first important mission and he was determined to come back with good news. The Bay's King asks if he has come from the Inlet by Warsaw's order and the young stallion nods his head.

Requiem still wasn't quite accustomed to the way of a herd and how to show other herd leader's respect. These past three years of his life have been uneventful since his father brought him home to raise him. No one had come to claim the Bay and no one outside of the herd entered the Inlet. It was only recently that equine he did not know were showing up. He wondered if something might have happened far from these islands to push these new horses here. He could think more on that subject later. Liland spoke again and then again, pretty much stating where he stood. It didn't seem like there was much room to negotiate with these two so the only option might be a fight.

"That might be a problem." He says with light colored lips rubbing together as he thought of what to say next. "I may be able to negotiate a deal with you better than Warsaw which is why he has sent me. Making a compromise is not his specialty, but I'm sure you guessed that from your first meeting. There are things he will not budge on, but I am hopeful we can come to some kind of agreement. If not, well, things will get messy." It was his intention to sound threatening to Liland, but his words could be taken that way. He would rather come to something Warsaw and Liland could agree upon so Liland and his herd could stay on Tinuvel. The islands needed new families to properly prosper. Besides, he would never find a mate if he was surrounded by family.

His father claimed he had a bethrow, but it was not official yet. Once he was a proper King of the island he said he would introduce Requiem to her. That was another thing he needed to push back in his mind for now. His body adjusts to a more relaxed position than Liland's tense was. For now the stallion was the alpha male here and Requiem had no problem showing that with his body language, but that could chance on a dime if need be. "Warsaw wants to be a Monarch King with you as his Earl. As an Earl you would have your Bay to run a herd as you pleased, but your loyality would need to be invested in Warsaw. His allies and his enemies would be yours and the only thing you have control of is what happens to your mares and your land. Warsaw would be able to enter the Bay without any issues as would the Inlet herd who would be considered a higher rank than the Bay's herd. The Bay herd may also visit the Inlet without an issue." He takes a deep breathe.

"You have choice of your own lead mare of course, but any outside males that make the Bay their home would need to promise loyalty to Warsaw. There would be no messing with the Inlet mares and all alliance ideas you have as well as anyone you would want to battle would need approval. If anyone was to attack the Bay, Warsaw has your back and you are expected to have his." Cream colored ears stay perked and alert to hear what Liland has to say. He had a sinking feeling that this meeting would be over quickly, perhaps even before he had crossed this border.
