I am the nightmare that became reality

Ruger

stallion | 15.3hh | EE aa TT | son of the wolf

Ruger had watched his friend change and did not like it.

Day in and day out had brought the same dull things for the red stallion of the Prairie. Although the painted stallion had scented the sea water on him a few times, it was never as often as himself and never when Ruger had actually noticed his disappearance. Meaning, it was never long enough to count. Something had to be done and after a few days thought he had approached the Prairie king with the antics of their youth, hoping the adventure might bring back some of the life that was dulling with time.

The swim was easy enough, at least for one that was well accustomed to it. But what he was never accustomed to was the harsh cold that greeted them as they clamored up onto the rocky shores of Tinuvel. It was no longer winter, thankfully, but for a stallion like him it was still entirely too frigid for his tastes. But this was supposed to be a short adventure; one filled with adrenaline, so he did his best to ignore the discomfort.

Spying the mare just as Sham did, Ruger hung back a bit to let his friend go on ahead. Swinging his head around, his lupine gaze searched for anyone that might be watching. This seemed easy; too easy. A trap? No, there was no one aware that they would be coming. Setting off then, Ruger followed in Sham’s tracks but did not turn to the mare once reaching the duo. Instead he moved further inland, his nostrils flaring to try and catch the brute’s scent that lived here. Thankfully there was nothing fresh, but a deep sense in Ruger that he couldn’t quite ignore had hoped that the grey stallion would show. Ears pinning, he struck out with a front hoof before flinging his head from the pent-up energy. Turning back, he hurried to catch up with the mare and Sham just as they were entering the waters.
