I wonder if we will ever know the full story here. There are several factors working. First, our press seems to "enjoy" a story of this flavor and tends to emphasize those aspects that make it sensational. Secondly, in any command that is part Navy and part civilian professionals, there are leadership differences. Finally, the Navy tends to be very restrictive in the release of information in events of this nature.
There was definitely smoke here but I'm not sure how big the fire was.
