A few years ago we were constantly being attacked by Herring Gull parents at the Bracebridge Ponds. One would swoop down over us and then pretend to leave, flying far away. The other would fly back and forth in front of us trying to keep our attention while the first bird came back, speeding in from behind. A few times it came in so close that I could feel the rush of air as it barely cleared the top of our heads. I started carrying an open umbrella.
