Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Dexter spoke of Zelda in a gleaming light, his words chosen well – saying enough without saying it at all. Elohim could do little more than give a deep nod of agreement and respect for what Dexter had chosen to say - he had, after all, said what Elohim thought of the woman himself. Of course, he was perhaps a little more reluctant to voice the praise aloud. He had made his fondness of Aster known in the past and it had not exactly turned in anybody’s favor, though he supposed he had at least earned Halcyon and Yami as something closer to ‘friends’ than ‘enemies’ through that fondness. He wondered, with a curious look over Dexter, if Zelda’s family might find fondness towards her a good enough reason to be kind. Then again, did they need a reason? It seemed that each of Zelda’s kin were welcoming by nature.

Elohim moved on then, speaking of Aranck and the Darkbringer. Dexter’s lip twitched and immediately, Elohim’s did too, though his own twitched up into an amused smirk as he nodded in understanding. He was not so amused at the sentiment but rather, the shared nature of it. Elohim had little love for Blackthorne despite his connections to his family through Glorall and Eve alike - sure, parts of him fascinated Elohim but fascination had never been equivalent to admiration.

"Ah, you flatter them to think they needed - or need -” he added with a raised brow, wondering if Dexter was aware that Blackthorne certainly did still still, "a gathering to bring them down. It takes only one wolf to behead a snake, and the snake does not move for long after, no?” He gave a brief, toothy grin and then composed himself once more with a light shrug. As far as Elohim was aware, it hadn’t taken much to put an end to Aranck – just a few well-placed teeth - but the move had come too late. As Dexter had said, he had been clear about his intentions. Why, Elohim wondered, had nobody acted despite the clarity? Ah, then again, perhaps that is why Elohim had never entered ‘politics.’ He did not understand the action, or the lack thereof. The processes involved in pack ruling and power-holding all seemed drawn out and awfully draining.

Dexter praised Zelda again, and his own mate, which brought about an honest, well-meaning grin from Elohim – not one of amusement or any sort of thing. No, he smiled if not just because, in all honesty, Dexter’s praise of his mate had surprised him with sentimentality. "Oh? Well, I don‘t suppose your mate has any interest in being some kind of heir or whatever it is my father hopes I find for him on this ‘mission?” He raised a brow, acting as if the question was truly serious before he gave a little laugh. In truth, he wouldn’t mind if he took home Dexter and his mate’s name. Why not them? Sure, Dexter had a little ‘age’ about him, but all alphas did eventually.

"As for Zelda? It is a bit of a distance for a queen to rule across,” he said thoughtfully despite the smile that continued to lurk the corner of his lips, "but who can say? Perhaps a queen has rule more than one pack before in the past. Perhaps it is normal in other lands – would we know?” It was a fascinating idea, but one he did not think others would take so well. Of course, his father would not be surprised. Taviora boasting of their own leader as the ideal name to pass onto him? He’d find it amusing if little else. Of course, he would say, though he himself would not have named his own blood so readily. "My own brothers are Zelda’s siblings, however. It gives them quite a claim, I’d think. I have Asriel, however – what of Shem? I don’t suppose he’s stuck himself to Zelda’s side as some kind of apprentice?” He asked mildly, re-focusd on the path in front of them. He wasn’t so sure Asriel would make a half-good ruler despite some good he sa in the boy – he was nervous at times, and something made Elohim believe him to be good at hiding certain somethings. As for Shem? Well, Elohim knew him but he didn’t truly know him. The Shem that Elohim would meet was not the same Shem that others met. How many Shems were there? Perhaps despite his aloofness, he’d found himself close with Zelda. Perhas he’d grown to realize that if he wanted Moteuh to never happen again, he‘d have to pick up the slack in Moladion. Or...perhaps not. Perhaps even Zelda and Dexter didn’t know the depths of the boy.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
