John,
Checking it out on the internet, it looks like the Supreme Court, since 2010, has declined five times to hear cases challenging the constitutionality of state gun control laws; this, after lower courts had upheld such constitutionality.
(Also, it appears that the Supreme Court was largely dominated by conservatives during that time frame).
