Ain't life just awful strange

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

Atlantis certainly felt much more exotic than Tinuvel. She was accustomed to the crisp air and mountainous terrain. The Peak wasn't really all that different than the northern-most island. But Atlantis couldn't be more otherworldly. The draft-cross mare's eyes were wide and alert as she discovered its wonders with every step. What wooed her first was just the sheer noise of this place. Insects hummed constantly from under leaves of the tropical brush and from the moist and soft Earth's floor. Woodland mammals scurried up trees and vines as she passed by at a slow and methodical pace. It didn't take long for the humidity to impact her. The dark mare's nostrils flared as she breathed in the wet air. She even began to break a sweat - moisture pimpled along the soft skin around her whiskered nostrils and began to dampen the fur along her neck underneath her unkempt mane.

Wasp would occasionally stop to inspect and graze upon the lush vegetation offerings here. Most of the grasses and plants were new to her. She wasn't aware that some could be toxic to her kind, but was picky enough not to taste test anything that appeared too unfamiliar. She was grazing on a low-lying bush of healthy green leaves when she heard a rustling in the distance. The branches shuffled like the tide of the sea, signaling a creature much larger than the birds and the squirrels she'd spied before was afoot. Wasp froze in anticipation, her amber eyes locking onto the form of a well-muscled stallion whom eventually appeared along the trail in the immediate distance.

She registers his snort and follows it with one of her own. Her boxy, draft-bred head comes to rest high above her withers, but Wasp doesn't immediately take a defensive stance. She knows she's intruding, so she waits as the stallion begins to move closer to her. Wasp can feel his eyes all over her, and she lets a few more moments pass as they quietly assess each other. Eventually she breaks the silence with a neutral nicker, her nostrils flaring as she takes in his scent again, and confirms its the same she'd picked up back along the shoreline. The warrior of the Peak than finishes chewing what was left of the snack in her mouth before speaking. "Some place you got here." She says casually, allowing her amber eyes to drift away from the stallion and peer around their surroundings for a second. "Have you been here long?"
