It probably would look pretty awkward to onlookers but Evanescence had no thought for others in the vicinity, not with him so close and his attention too focused on herself. She was braced. For what, she had no idea. At the drop of a dime, she could bolt at any minute. If her muscles were any more tense, they'd cramp. When she finally did let out a nicker, she saw the corners of his lips twitch. The idea of him finding humor in her fear made her shiver but at the back of her mind, she told herself that wasn't what he was doing. He was probably taking hope that she hadn't run. He was slow and careful with her and for that, she was grateful, even if she couldn't show it. As he stepped toward her, she snorted again and tossed her head, watching him warily, the whites of her eyes rolling. He was patient though, stopping once he took that step as if to gauge her reaction. She flicked her tail against her flanks to show her growing agitation but held her ground. She kept seeing that smile on his face and her ears flicked back and forth uncertainly. What was he smiling about? He took another step and she tensed, pawing the ground. He seemed like he wanted to give her space and he was very slow in his actions. When his voice reverberated out to her, she shivered again, looking at the ground as if it might swallow her up at any moment. He called himself Requiem of the Bay. She had no idea of the herds in this area or even near this island. Her ears flicked back and stayed, another snort rattling from her nostrils. Finally she took a deep breath. "I...am Evanescence....of nowhere." Her voice was soft, almost a whisper. Finally, she dared to look up at him after a minute, gauging his reaction.
