The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
The road goes ever on

It was strange to watch the interaction between Shamwari and the mare Larka. This was a thick mix of emotions in the air between them where Larka seemed glad to see him and Shamwari was more standoffish like he was hurt by her presence. Something had gone on between them and he was curious to know the story, but this was no time to pry into his leader's personal life. All Ro knew of Shamwari was the relationship he had with Sanibel. He had not seen any other mares that fawned over him like Larka was now. He only knew of the grown Jabari and his cousin Primrose to be his children. Now he was learning this Larka character had a son of his.

Ro had a lot to learn about herd life and what happens when you become a lead stallion with multiple mares. He wasn't sure he wanted multiple mates, but there was a lot of pretty mares in the world. His attention turns to the important matter at hand, the reason Shamwari brought him here. The short stallion with the funny mane seems to be friends with Shamwari. A friend of his leader was a friend of his as well. Ro couldn't help, but stand tall when Shamwari calls him his lieutenant. He felt proud to have such a title under a stallion he respected. Liland speaks and mentions he may move somewhere else in the future that fit better with his way of life.

Ro wonders what it must have felt like to uproot your family and leave the place you had first settled all because of another stallion. Warsaw was there when he was born, but just briefly. Ro had learned his name later when Sanibel had taken him back to the Prairie. They were beginning to get into the early stages of politics when Larka dismisses herself from the conversation. Liland says she didn't have to leave, but Shamwari simply ignores her and continues to explain things to Liland. Ro leans towards the two talking stallions to hear what he could of the conversation. Warsaw, of course, was the main topic.

His gut twists in the cruel fate that befell his mother and his half sister Sabela. Warsaw had stripped them apart and Sojourner was left worrying about her daughter until her death. If Sabela still lived under Warsaw's rule he would vow to free her and let her live a life she could choose herself. He would free any children she was forced to have in the Inlet and aid Shamwari in his fight against his uncle.
