As a logistic engineer, I recognize that the cost of any military asset has to include the total cost of supporting it over its life span. Just because something can be built doesn't necessarily mean it should be built. This wonderful new aircraft carrier is a case in point. Not knowing the total cost of nuclear vs. diesel powered submarines, I'm in no position to offer an opinion, but I would recommend a logistic support analysis of both types of subs be accomplished before a recommendation is offered to Congress for funding.
