Evren watched as Creed crept forward, and a grin of pleasure brightened her face when the waves lapped over one of Creed’s hooves.
“There you go,” she encouraged with a bob of her head. “And look, you didn’t dissolve!”
With a cackle of mischievous laughter, Evren gave in to the sudden whim that had bubbled up within her and splashed into the sea until it was nearly up to her withers. “Oh, balls, that’s cold!” she shrieked, and almost as quickly as she’d come, turned around and lugged herself back onto shore, teeth chattering and nostrils blowing out the water she’d inhaled. Evren gave herself hearty shake when she was close enough to shower Creed in water droplets.
“Not one of my brighter ideas,” she admitted with a chuckle. “You’re off the hook today, but the dare still stands. One of these days I’ll see you in that water, I guarantee it.”
