Ain't life just awful strange

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

The longer their conversation droned on, the more uncomfortable the stocky, tall mare became. She began to shift her weight back and forth over her four hooves. Her wavy black tail swat back and forth over her rump in anticipation. She didn't know why she felt like this - after all, it was some kind of social interaction she was craving, wasn't it? She'd soured on the idea of this solitude. But Requiem was hardly the 'friend' she envisioned making in her mind.

Their conversation took a quick personal turn, and perhaps that was what was making Wasp feel so squeamish about it.

The stallion continued to press her on friendship, and on trust. And if she could furrow her eyebrows together, this would be a time in which she would do that. Instead, her amber eyes studied the young stud from behind a hardened gaze as he counters her claim with one rooted in honesty. She snorts in response, and flicks her tail again. "Touche." She says, with the amicable bob her head. She was no way to argue out of this one. And just maybe, Requiem had a good point. Either way, he'd won her over for now. She decided she'd continue to tread carefully, but maybe she'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

She breathed a heavy sigh of relief when he chose not to press her for more details about her father. Wasp surprised even herself when those words slipped from her own lips. She hadn't discussed the unrest she felt over never really knowing her father with anyone, not even Macabre. They'd met just once, here in the Bay, when Wasp was just a few months old. The memory of hazy and fleeting. And so was this casual meeting. It felt short-lived in her thoughts. Sometimes she wondered where the stallion was now, but then felt foolish for doing so. Requiems words bring her back and she offers the stallion a genuine smile. She appreciated his warning. "So if we're going to be friends, I should probably know your name." She finally says, arching her neck and extending her muzzle to offer a friendly exchange of a shared breath. "I'm Wasp. And I'm from the Peak."
