She hadn't been too fond of the harsh desert climate but she also didn't know Liland planned on moving the herd so soon. Oh well. She was used to being on the move, anyway. She was never one to sit still too long; just look at how many times Rougaru had to come after her in the free lands. She would enjoy the same freedoms under Liland's hoof, whether he liked it or not. She also didn't expect Liland to move them to the Ridge, practically right next door to her former home, Paradise. Her skin tingled at the thought of being on the same island as Rougaru but she knew it didn't really mean anything. Liland and her lizard king were still having their pissing match and until they figured their shit out, neither her nor Zjeena were going home.

It kind of sucked, too, since she'd actually been intrigued with the mare she fought in a friendly spar. The cream colored mare had the same fire in her, the spirit that probably made her perfect lead mare material in Liland's eyes. Monster had found a kindred spirit in her but now she didn't get to meet Zjeena face to face, at least not until the stallions stopped playing the game of keep away. She'd followed Liland the rest of the herd for the swim across to the new island, keeping her distance warily since she had yet to meet any of the rest of the herd yet, but she was curious, none the less. When they made it to the island, she watched as the other horses branched off into familiar groups to rest and Liland seemed content to let them do so. Screw that.

She tossed her head and shook out her coat before taking off to explore this part of the island. She might have ventured across some of it while living in Rougaru's herd but she was sure she hadn't seen all of it. She'd noticed the other foals with the mares in this herd. She figured they had to be of Liland's blood. She'd always had it in the back of her mind that Rougaru would sire her first foal but would that come to pass now? If he left her here out of pride, breeding season would come and she was sure Liland wasn't just going to let her have a pass. She could always avoid him like she did Rougaru. She'd even fight him if she had to. But instinct was fighting something else at this point. Her mother had always taught her that a strong stallion deserved strong foals and she knew she could provide that.

Liland had won her in battle, fair and square, so technically that made him stronger than Rougaru, at least this time. If her mother were here, she was sure the older mare would be pushing her to do her duty as a herd mare and carry his foal should breeding season come. But something in her rebelled against the idea. It was that same chest tightening sensation when Rougaru got that rare soft look in his eyes. She always outwardly rebelled against that look but inside, it made something new quiver to life. She didn't like this new feeling. It ate away at her and made her more restless and angry. She would just have to take it day by day, but she'd be damned if she made it easy for him. She didn't bother to glance back as she went further into the island. If he came after her, so be it.
