Are we written in the sand

She watches the first interaction between father and child. It makes Cherish sad that they were just meeting, but this was better than never. Clarity didn't pull away from Ruger's touch and instead just watches the stallion with curious blue eyes. The filly shares the same crystal blue eyes as her mother, but her coat of black and white somewhat reflects her father. The filly seems mesmerized by his bold yellow eyes. Cherish, too, was attracted to them, but she also knew the dangers this stallion could cause. She was still unsure how safe this stallion was, but she felt safe in the forest. Cherish knew she was protected here so she shows no fear.

Ruger speaks, saying he was glad she had a girl. Cherish nods with a slight smile. Honestly, she would deal with it if she had a boy, but Clarity has been much easier. She wouldn't tell Ruger that their daughter was almost lost at sea when they were escaping the lagoon. The stallion's features seem to soften the more they stand around talking. Cherish was beginning to feel more and more comfortable, her worries all washing away. "Why did you leave?" She was referring to the lagoon, but Ruger seems smart enough to understand what she meant. She guesses it was a good thing he left ultimately because she was able to keep her body safe the next season. Well, Macabre helped her with that and she was very thankful.

Cherish loves having foals, but not forcefully as Cullen made her do. She wanted to choose her child's father just as she has done for most of her children. "We were finally able to escape, but my son is still looking for us. Please don't tell him we are here." She felt enough trust to tell Ruger this. She hopes he would not betray that.
