The older male seemed ever watchful of the two girls, his body seeming almost tense at moments when it looked like the one who was checking out the bridge would leap onto it. He, too, took the time to inspect the natural made crossing before he seemed to notice Cass for the first time. His first reaction was expected, his tail raising as if in challenge. Cass almost smirked back. But then the tail went back down as if the male just realized that he was young and small, not really a threat. Cass' brows furrowed in distaste. He was indeed a threat! Maybe not this moment or even this year, but soon he would be a champion sure to threaten anyone! He couldn't think much more of it though when one of the girls suddenly all but threw herself onto the bridge.
Cass' gaze swept back to the older male almost expecting him to throw himself after her so it was a surprise to him when instead, the male took a step back as if to say that the mistake was now hers to make. Intriguing. He was sure his own mother would not do the same if she were present to see his situation. He felt like a great success as he flattened himself and clung to the wood with his dull claws. Sure, it must look pretty awkward, but he was still alive and that meant something right? As the girl made her way along the bridge toward him, he looked up, watching carefully the way she maneuvered without getting so low. Clearing his throat, he attempted to raise himself, only to hear the wood crackling so he gasped and quickly lowered himself again.
The girl seemed quite proud of herself as she got closer, even smiling as she raised herself as if in jest of him. He scowled in her direction, clearly about to tell her off about it when she nudged toward her haunches and gave him a gesture with her mouth as if to make a sound. But nothing came out. His ears flicked back and forth in uncertainty. She didn't actually make a sound, right? Surely it wasn't just drowned out by the crashing of the water around them and the crackling of the wood. He scowled even further, studying her for a moment before the wood beneath him crackled again and he sighed and shook his head. "Fine, fine, but I was just already heading in that direction." He muttered as he tried to move carefully but quickly toward her side.
Only once his fur pressed to hers and the wood stopped its incessant crackling did he find himself breathing a bit easier. He glanced over at her. "Ok, so let's see about getting off this bridge without dying, eh? He offered his best try at a charming smirk before he started moving toward the shore of Glorall. She stayed a little behind him but he didn't miss the silent queues and gestures of her head. He followed them, though making it seem his own idea with confident movements as they got closer and closer to land. As he leapt to the ground, he let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding, relief instantly making his muscles relax before he turned back to make sure the girl made it off safely as well. "Not too bad for a ravine wolf, eh?" He asked his sure to be captive audience.
