CESR?? Doable? Worth a try?

CESR?? Doable? Worth a try?

I know I have the skills for independent practice and I am thinking about CESR application. However I have seen much more experienced candidates (one with full FRCOphth plus a PhD) giving up after two or three years. Is it worth trying?
