Evren did not fail to notice the young mare’s body language, and she wondered what it was that she was nervous about, given that the Forest and Prairie were close allies. Did she find Evren intimidating? Was she shy by nature? Whatever the reason, it did not stop a hopeful smile from brightening the mare’s face when she asked about Han.
Evren’s heart sank, and her smile faded. “Oh, honey, he left the other morning… and I don’t think he’s coming back. Were you two… close?”
Suddenly Evren saw the young mare in a new light. Was she the one? Was she the one that Han had been spending time with when he was off doing goodness-knows-what? That was intriguing, but also strange. Han had never before shown interest in girls - or most horses in general, to be honest - so it seemed out of character for him to have secretly been spending time with an attractive young mare such as this one. Or had they been nothing more than friends?
Either way, this raised even more questions regarding Han’s dissatisfaction with living here. Surely he would not have left so suddenly if he had a budding friendship… or even a budding romantic relationship?
