Osiris knew leading a herd wasn't all it was cut out to be persay. However; he still had the desire to be in a herd. It allows for more protection from predators after all. He grooms Rowena, she would always be his main mare always. No one else would ever touch her or he would kill them. But Elvira was up for the taking and as long as the other didn't kill her he did not really care what happened to her. So where ever they went if the stallion accepted them Elvira would be theres for the taking.
One ear was listening to the surroundings while the other was listening to Rowena as they groomed each other.
