the strange way of the world

Frustration had caused him to plug into the sea and head for the Prairie. So much has happened back home and after taking the wrath of his father, Requiem felt very out of character. When Warsaw had told him Bjorn would be taking over the Bay, but he had to tell his father he already lost it to Liland, that was his final straw. Requiem instantly remembers the blue draft mare he met in the meadow towards the beginning of her ownership of the Bay. He then saw her later in the common as being herded by some stallion. She looked afraid, terrified maybe, to go with him, but at the time Requiem didn't have the courage to challenge the older stallion's decision to take her. He secretly followed behind them and laid his eyes on the Prairie for the first time. He knew the place to be enemy territory so he fled back home.

Now a bunch of stuff happened and well, he needed some place for all his pent up energy to go. He chose to free Evanescence, but he had never won a fight before. He charged into the Prairie, challenged the mature stallion for rights to the blue mare, and won. He was shocked, but he didnt not round up his prize as this stallion had done to her in the commons. Instead, Requiem only asks her to meet him in the Inlet where he would be waiting for her. He knew she would come at her own space and he needed to to so they could have a fresh start to a good relationship. He reaches the Inlet shore, but he never strays too far away. He waits for her there, for however long it takes, until he finally sees her form out at sea. He watches her for a few seconds as she looks around.

It was obvious she didn't see him standing off to the side where he was so he gives her a light nicker before walking over. The aggression he had just shown on the Prairie was now gone and the usual timid Requiem has returned. "I hope I didn't take you from a place you enjoyed." He says to her softly. He really didn't know how she felt about the stallion that took her. She could like him for all he knew. He felt the sudden urge to explain himself. "I happened to be in the commons when that stallion claimed you. You looked terrified. Your face has been haunting me for weeks and I had to save you." This was perhaps the most he has ever talked to this mare. Their meeting in the meadow was just the simple exchange of names and where they lived. He had the Bay at the time and she was a nomad. He wished he could have brought her home then to enioy the Bay with him and meet Tavas. They would have been good friends.
