She did feel overwhelmed with the new environment and the tension in the air, but as long as she focused on Requiem, everything else seemed to fade into the background, at least a little bit. He had a way of making her relax and not feel like she had to be so tense all the time. His eyes grew distant for a moment, as if he had a lot on his mind. Evanescence glanced at the ground awkwardly, wondering if he regretted fighting for her already. It wouldn't surprise her. He was probably nice enough that he wouldn't say anything about it. He would just play it off and be nice to her because he was a gentleman. She couldn't help but study him as she left him alone with his thoughts. His skin had some fresh wounds it now, probably mostly thanks to Ruger. And even then, she couldn't be upset with either one. They had both done what they felt was right. She decided to change the subject and not ask anymore about what was going on in the Inlet. It was probably way over her head anyway. It seemed to mean a lot to Requiem if she could meet his other mare Nampeyo and become friends. He'd probably feel better if she had someone besides just him watching over her. Plus, he probably figured she was lonely. He wasn't wrong. She did miss the company of other horses more than anything. When she told him that she wanted to stay, his smile was enough to light up the night and it brought another warm feeling to her chest. He said that he wanted to be a good stallion and mentioned another mare named Tavas. The name itself wouldn't have caused a reaction out of Evanescence, but the expression on his face right after he said it was enough to make her brows furrow in concern. He almost looked surprised himself, like he hadn't meant to say it. Did he not want her to know about Tavas? What did he assume she would think? He seemed almost troubled and she didn't want that burden on his shoulder so she offered another small smile and swished her tail. "I'm sure Nampeyo feels lucky to have you. And Tavas should too, having you in her corner. I look forward to meeting them."
