Ylva nodded when Liland spoke of the filly, but the name Sabela did not ring a bell. She glanced at Liland shyly and shook her head. “I’m afraid I don’t recall, though there were a few other mares that could have been her,” she said. Her time with Warsaw’s herd had been a dark time spent in isolation, and while part of her now regretted not getting to know most of Warsaw’s other mares - for it could have made her stay that much more bearable - the other part of her knew that, even if she went back now, she would have likely done the same thing. The aura of the herd there was just not particularly friendly.
She followed Liland to the freshwater stream without a word, and gratefully lowered her head to take a long drink, having been left parched by the long swim. The freezing water was like a punch to the gut, but it was clean and refreshing. As she drank, she noticed the very peculiar fact that Liland had not so much as mentioned the colt’s name. Water dripped from her muzzle as she lifted her head and looked off in the direction of the foals to watch them play. She thought about asking about the colt, but something stopped her. Instead, she looked back at Liland and decided to address the most pressing issue on her mind, scary as it was. “Liland, I… there’s something I need to tell you. Shaydowfax mentioned that she took us from Warsaw, which is true, but there’s more to it than that. Warsaw is…” her voice trailed off, and Ylva’s eyes lowered to the ground. To her shame, she could feel tears pricking at her eyes. “He is terrible. Please, whatever you do… keep us safe from him.
