Meadow

She walked in moon dust,

but stars were sprinkled in her hair.

The wind was blowing, the autumn chill dancing atop it in a whirlwind of orange and yellow leaves that made the young voyager think of home. Eyes of brown and blue close, head slightly titled up to breath in the morning crisp air as the colors of the leaves created an image of rolling sand in her mind that never seemed to end; accompanied by the laughter of a young child that was as yellow as the sand it danced upon, chasing after two pale shapes in the distance that stayed just out of reach no matter how far and fast she ran. The tugging breeze had her legs moving on their own then, not that she would ever stop herself from being tugged along, leading the daydreaming mare deeper through the forest until finally into a field of lush grass surrounded by its hues of red, yellow, and orange.

Only here did Feray open her eyes, taking in a place she remembered once on her travels with her mother. The meadows, a place that was safe and welcoming to all; just the first step in her journey. Long legs carry from her hiding spot to venture deeper into the meadow, long grass tickling the skin of her knees as she finds a sunny spot to warm herself in, the morning sun dancing over her buttermilk coat; the white that was spreading across her back and shoulders making it seem that she was showered in a bit of snow that clung like morning dew did to plants. Lowering her head, strands of white and black mane flowing into her eyes, she begins to graze not at all concerned by her surroundings.
