Only need the sun when it starts to snow;

Larka watches the young colt closely as he continues on with their conversation, the naive spirit somehow uplifting despite her current situation. He asks what else there it to worry about and that his father would protect her. Of that Larka did not doubt. Rougaru was a brute, aptly named after the monstrous beast and yet never once was their any doubt in her mind that he would not defend what he believed to be his. He had fought hard enough to keep Zjeena from Liland, she could only assume he would do the same with her. Her fears were something deeper, something that she did not dare discuss within earshot of one still so young and innocent to the world. She offers him a tired smile, pale eyes dancing as she nods her head gently, "You are right, I do not doubt the abilities of your father, or mother for that matter. I am sure the seasons on this island have taught them much."

Suddenly his languid demeanor seems to change, shaken as though her very words had stung him. He shakes his head and gazes towards his mother, his words dejected as though he wished it was something he could change. As much as she wanted to keep herself apart from the herd, from this son of Rougaru, Larka feels herself drawn to him. Sympathy dances in her eyes now as she dares to take a step nearer to him, her soft velvet plush pressing gently against his cheek in comfort. "It is not your fault. Sometimes we change, words are spoken and despite the best wishes it is not easy to take them back once they are spoken aloud." she murmurs, her gaze following the boy to where his dark colored mother grazed in comfortable oblivion to their conversation. If she were not so eager to keep out of Rougaru's eye and keep her head down until she could make her escape or Shamwari could come for her she would have made a point to speak with the mare, to see if there was not something that she could do to help mend the broken fences for she hated to see others suffering above all else.

He lets a soft sigh escape his lefts as he turns his gaze upon her once more, his emotions hidden beneath the depth of his gaze. He speaks and Larka cannot help but to feel a little taken aback by the dejection in his words. She nickers softly to him, ears perked amid the tangle of obsidian locks as pale silver blue eyes meet his. "And what good would that do you? Do you honestly believe that were you to run away your parents relationship be any better? Perhaps the gods have put you here to fix what was broken." she murmurs, pale lashes blinking slowly. Of course she knew nothing of what was said between the two, but still, she could not help but to believe that everything had a purpose. Perhaps her purpose here was to help this lost boy... perhaps not. Regardless she hoped that her words might offer him some semblance of encouragement.
