bring me back to life...

He seemed surprised that she didn't move away from his touch. She was surprised herself, but she didn't want to jinx it by thinking too much about it. Her whole body was on alert, electricity seemingly jolting just under the surface. The wrong movement could send her flying away, but she found that she didn't want that, not anymore, not right now. He smiled just a little at her words and it was enough to make her chest tighten and flutter. He agreed that there could never be a light such as Zimri's and she nodded. Then he asked if he would recognize another light if he saw it. She tilted her head for a moment before smiling. "I think that a part of you would always recognize it. It's just up to the rest of you to accept it when you do." That would be the real test, him denying the link when he found it or just playing ignorant because maybe it's easier.

She started to wonder if they would have eventually spoken like this if she had stayed in the Prairie. She had so much pent up fear when she got there. Every time she looked at him, she saw him the way he was in the Common when he herded her back to the Prairie and every time she closed her eyes, his face transformed into Valour's. It was a bad combination that left her breathless and panicked. But not anymore. For some reason, she didn't see that face anymore when she looked at Ruger. He looked so sad and vulnerable here by the Falls when she found him. This was a new side of him. Would she have ever gotten to see this side before? Who knows? She was just glad she got to see it now. As he tucked his head, she felt his cheek brush her neck and her skin shuddered in response.

But it was a new sensation under her flesh. Not the shudder of fear that his touch would turn violent. No, it was the season and her body was reacting in a whole new way, letting the safety she felt around him carry her into an instinctive position of intimacy. She snorted softly and lowered her head, her body submitting to him in a way she hadn't ever done to Valour. His words only made her ache more, her lips parting on a breath as she swished her tail, fanning the scent. "Ruger..." She whispered his name in a needy way, something inside her telling her it felt right somehow. She fought the part of her that said that she didn't belong to him anymore, that Requiem was her lead stallion now. She only felt Ruger's touch, only ached for it now. "I want...you..."
