Persephone also chuckled at Shaydowfax’s words. She was impressed by this woman’s skill in battle, if she had bested Warsaw twice already.

“That is impressive,” she replied. “I am sure his pride is wounded mre than anything.”

She listened carefully then to the mare’s response to her warning. She nodded in understanding – protecting their own families would always come first, on that Persephone was in agreement. She would sacrifice any alliance for her own herd, but save for that, she was loyal so long as she was treated with respect.

“I understand completely,” Persephone responded. “I would never ask you to choose me over your own herd.”

She paused a moment, considering her offer.

“However, if you are interested, I would like to offer you an alliance in this troubling time. The terms would be simple: we would not have to worry about each other harassing our herds, we would share any useful information we acquire, and our services would be available to each other if we were in need, should it not interfere with any of our own personal commitments. What do you think?”
